Mums and Mice

Nothing can beat my Mum's birthday wishes... she always hits the spot, every. single. year.

THO CUTE! *-* Although I keep asking myself why doesn't the piano play at the very end, when they're all happily bouncing on the keys.

What would we do without our Mums, I ask you now?

Please, please

It's already March and this Dreamy girl is busy, busy. Too busy, in fact, to remember to log out when she uses other people's computers...

Please, Dreamy girl, please post something new.

Hehe

Mummy has a habit of posting on her blog her children's funny quotes. Among them are some of my "accidental" sayings. So, I think it's time I did the same.

Last weekend Mum and I were together in the kitchen talking. I don't know what she said or did to make me say this, but somehow I found the reason to exclaim in admiration, "Wow, Mummy, when I grow up I want to be like you!"

To which she replied, "You don't have to be grown up for that, because I was already like me when I was like you!"

Silence followed in which we looked at each other with a puzzled look till what she had said sunk in and we started laughing.

So there. :P

Spring!

Lately Spring has been saying, "Hello!" She is being quite shy about it, but slowly and surely she's letting her face be seen around these parts. See for yourself! ^^

Hopefully now my mum will be happy... :P

Favourite Lullabies

These are just three. I keep listening to songs and thinking, "When I'm married and expecting, I'll learn this song by heart so that I can sing it to my baby when it's time to sleep!"

Talk About Cool Socks

About a year ago I posted a picture of some cool socks I really liked and mentioned something about a start. Well, I never really continued the start, but today I can't help but making it happen, because about two days ago, my mum, after being shopping, and because she knows me very well (she's my mum, folks!) came back home with... a gift.

How do you like my gift? As I mentioned on that post linked above, I have been collecting socks like these since 2007. I wonder if I'll think about sharing some more samples of my collection... :P

Washing the Dishes by Mummy

I the model, my mother the artist.

I was very rewarded when my Mummy noticed even the hour of the night in which I washed the dishes for her a couple nights ago. She even included my singing! Isn't she a darling? ♥

Home, Sweet Home

And so, my four month trip has come to an end.

I can't believe this is over. It seems like it was yesterday that my parents called me down to the kitchen and told me, "Yes! You can go! You can start making plans." It seems like it was yesterday that I phoned and e-mailed all my friends telling them my exciting news. Whoa, where has time gone? 3rd of May is as fresh in my mind as if I were living it today. *Sighs*

This trip has been incredible. I can't even start to explain how much it has helped me to grow personally and spiritually, and it has been such a huge gift to be able to meet all my pen-friends!

Things haven't really changed here. My bedroom is still a mess [grin, just kidding].

Well, some things have.

No, seriously. My little big brother is a head taller than me, and his voice has changed to a deep, low manly voice that I really like. That is one huge change that I have to get used to. But we're still as close as before... or should I say, we're closer than ever? After my darling Mummy and youngest brother had picked me up from the airport (the latter repeating that I was the best present ever, because it recently was his birthday, although I'm wondering if he really meant it as a hint :P), we went my little big brother from school, and when he saw me he smiled and hugged me in front of all his friends! That was so special to me =)

The other big change that almost broke my heart was the news that Black Jack, my favourite kitten, ran away a couple of months ago. It really made me sad, but Scotty, our other kitten (he's well over two years old now, but I can't stop calling him my kitty) remembered me, and that same night, when I went outside to just think, he came over and plopped himself on my lap.

Let me add something to this post: even though I miss my friends terribly and I wish I were back in Holland, I LOVE BEING HOME!

After picking up my brother from school we went home. The house was still painted yellow. The flowers still invaded the garden/yard, and Skitty was still slumbering in the shade. It almost looked exactly as I had left it four months ago. But...! Surprise! There were two balloons at the gate. And once I had gone into the house, I saw balloons ALL over the place, and hand-made garlands hanging from the lights and the ceilings, and posters with "Welcome Home, Anna!" all over the place. Do you wonder why it's good to be home? It made me feel so good inside. My family had really looked forward to my coming back, and are really making me feel welcome.

They're so awesome. :)

You know, it's also lots of fun to introduce the new treasures I have to the old ones I had. I hope they get along fine when I'm not in the room!

And so, as someone said somewhere, this is the end of my trip... but it's also another beginning. Thank God. ♥

Blastocystis Hominis

The Blastocystis Hominis is a single-celled parasite that attacks human's intestinal tract. The symptoms can be many, and varied, including fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea...
Eleven years ago, about two years after my brother was born, my Mother started having serious dygestion problems. She felt very ill whenever she ate certain things, and after a while, the doctors decided the problem was that she had a "lazy digestion".
She also noticed that whenever she ate milk or eggs, it made her feel even more worse, so she cut it out from her diet. After that, it seemed like she was getting better.
Five years ago, the symptoms came back and she started feeling ill again. Also, my sister appeared to have the same problem, and she, too, started to follow my Mother's diet.
At that time the doctors decided to try with Mamma a gastroscopy; they found an inflamation in her stomach, but said it was "nothing". A little later, she had a barium meal test, and nothing new was found.
By that time, they decided to cut out meat from their diet too. Then, three years ago, after severe ear infections, our uncle and her brother advised her to "give up calcium". That meant, besides milk and eggs and all that contained them, some vegetables, various meats (because of their many additives), all dried fruit, as well as some fresh fruit, citrics, and many, many other things. Mamma also started drinking special calcium-free water.
Till then, she'd visited 7 different digestion specialists, who all came to the conclusion that she needed a psychiatrist.
Then, it happened. A little more than two years ago, I started having stomach problems also, when I ate some things. I either doubled up with a terrible pain in my tummy, or I threw up what I had eaten. At first we were a little lost, but after some time, my Mother realised that I was having the same symptoms as she had. So it was decided that I was to follow the same diet, and eventually, I felt better.
This event also drove us to think that it might be something hereditary, because my Granny had, apparently, had the same problems we were having.
After cutting out the calcium in our diet, we started feeling better, but after a while, we got our problems again and got worse. Not even calcium free food felt better, and even drinking water hurt me.
At the beggining of last September, my Mummy made an apointment with a new digestion specialist from Argentina, who after a talk, decided to do a test for a parasite. He was specialised in tropical infections, and his very words were, "This sounds so much like a parasite!" So once the tests were done, we had to wait a month for the results. To me, it felt like an endless wait.
But the day came, and after a very bad day at school, I went home to a hurrying Mummy, who said, "Hurry up and eat your lunch, dear. I have to go to the hospital for the test results!"
Mamma went on her own, and I went to my homework. But when she came back, you can believe me when I say I rushed down the stairs and almost shouted, "So what did he say?¿?"
Mamma hugged me and said, "We're going to get better! We have a parasite!"
And we started to cry. What a great answer to our prayers! Yes, I can say that this illness was hard for me, because I enjoyed eating all the things I couldn't. And I also enjoyed staying up late, and I couldn't. I enjoyed being crazy and running, and swimming, and I couldn't. At first I had rebelled and was stubbornly determined that I wouldn't let this... problem, condition my life, and I had a hard time accepting it as part of God's plan for me... but...
Right now, and after the treatement, my Mummy and I are starting to eat normally, and gaining all the weight we had lost, as well as our strength. I am enjoying every bite of whatever I eat, and many friends say that they'll invite me to a drink such as horchata or milk&chocolate.
I am so grateful to God for answering my prayers on this matter, and for all the strength and help He gave me these past two years.
And I am sure, my friends, that God sent this illness my way so I would learn patience... and I'm not jokin.

Mummy!

Today is my dearest Mummy's birthday!
On such a special day in the year, I want to wish her the most wonderful, lovely, happy, blessed Birthday in the world!
  • Because she is so patient with me!
  • Because she understands this crazy, teenager mind of mine.
  • Because she is so supportive in all the things I do, want and would like to do.
  • Because she is a lot of fun to be with!
  • Because she is the best at scratching backs.
  • Because she is such a loving mother!
  • Because she is she!!
And so I'm dedicating this post to her, my Mummy.

Apricot Rain

Over the last years, every now and then I wrote a gardening update, and well... the time has come to write another one.
This time, I have also pictures to post! And yeah, you can take the title literally...
You see, if you get under the apricot tree, you are most likely to receive a rain of apricots on your head. There are so many of them this year, it's amazing! Mummy doesn't know what to make out of so many of them, though we are going to do lots of jam, and lots of yummy things with them.

These are our apricots. Quite big, I must say... I love the colour! What I like of them also, is that they are so juicy that when you bite them juice just runs down your chin without you being able to do anything about it.

This is this morning's collection. I believe Mummy said there were 27 kilos in the basket, or something like it.

Mummy gave me this "Perfect Apricot", as she called it, specially for me. ^^

This, believe it or not, is a sunflower - without its sunflower... but it'll come soon! :) It's taller than me, the plant is! And I'm about, more or less, five foot three inches.

My favourite plant in the garden... the rosebush! I love red red roses, and this one is quite according to my taste! I love its colour.

These are the pictures. Mummy is also growing beans, and we also have prunes, and last year's were quite delicious! And letsee, I think this is all for now!

New Boots!!!!

Mummy bought new boots for me today!!
My old ones were nice, but they pressed a bit my toe (incredible, but my feet are actually still growing!!! ;[ ), so we went to town and bought new ones. They are so, so wonderful!! I am very proud of them. They are ver fashionable, and are great. I'm sorry that I can't post any photos, but this isn't the right computer. It doesn't allow it.
Anyway, if you see a gril wearing very cool dark brown boots, that will be me!!!
