Vacation Bible School 2008

Here I am again! :) Did you miss me?
I have been a whole week helping out in a VBS some friends of ours organized, and it was a wonderful experience! I have never done this before, and I must say, I missed a lot!!
My younger brother, who is eleven, and I went, and it lasted a week. I stayed at a friend's house (Cris' house), and he stayed at another friend's house.
It was during afternoons, starting at half past five p.m. and ending and eight p.m. There were five teens helping out, occasionally a couple more.
Cris and I went there at five to help prepare the afternoon snack. We also helped preparing the different crafts that had to be made, and doing some other things.
VBS' theme was David Livingstone and Africa, and it was very interesting.
At half past five, we all went to the park and played games there with the neighbourhood children. Once everyone was tired, we sat down and sang choruses and little hymns for them, and they learned them very well. :)
Then there was a small story with a message, and the children were asked questions, about God and Christ's death and sin. It was really very nice.
Then we would go back to the meeting room to listen to the missionary story about David Livingstone, and also to do the crafts, which were all about Africa. One of them was a lion mask... =)
Then we would eat our snack, and finish off things, and answer questions the children would have, or talk, until eight p.m., when it finished till next day.
I really enjoyed it, it was very nice to tell about God to people who didn't know Him.
I took plenty of pictures. Here are a few!

Singing with two guitars. The lady standing up, with the written chorus is Rosa. The guy in the red shirt, playing the guitar, was one of the teens, named Daniel.

Here the kids were sitting down and listening to the little story. Peter, Rosa's husband, was telling the story.

A closer look... Peter with the story.

Back at the meeting room, making hand crafts.

And this is about it! It was a wonderful week.
Also, since the VBS was only during afternoons, we had free mornings, and Cris and I got to do a lot of things together. Such as going jogging, shopping together, swimming, watching videos, and a lot more things. :) A wonderful week, really!
Pray that the seed was sown in good earth, and all the children that listened to God's word may believe in Him!

Tagged!

I've been tagged by Bethany!
Here are the rules:
  1. Answer the questions asked
  2. Link my blog to yours.
  3. Tag other people and comment on their blogs to let them know they've been tagged.
Questions:

Who is your favourite author and why?
Well, I'm not sure. I've enjoyed reading many books by different authors... but most likely, the ones I've liked most are Laura Ingalls Wilder's collection of books, because they are her biography written in a very inspiring way, and Richmal Crompton's, because they are very funny and I've learned many new jokes from her character, William.

What is your favourite book? (excludes the Bible)
I don't know! There are way too many books I like.

What is your favourite Bible verse, passage, or chapter?
1st Corinthians 13

What is your favourite animal?
The killer whale, also known as the orca.

What is your favourite girl's name?
Miriam, Lucy, Abigail...

What is one of the silliest things you've done?
When I was a little girl, my Mummy was mopping the landing. She told me not to put my hands in the water... and, well, I didn't. I put my foot in it!, and then ran all the way to my room, that she'd already mopped.

What is your earliest memory?
I was in England, at my Grandparents' house, and I was pushing a very small pink push-chair with a little ball and a bottle in it. I was just one year old.

And now I tag Hannah, Sil, Nathan and Andreu.

Don Juan De Noche

I have decided to dedicate a post exclusively to a flower named "Don Juan de Noche", which means "Sir Night John", or literally "Sir John of Night", which has no sense. :P These flowers have very bright colours, and come out at night, which is the reason I have taken this pictures late in the evening. ~Enjoy them! :)

This is the first picture I took of one of them...

I liked this one because it has so much pink-red.

This one caught my attention because it seemed like the pink-red in it slowly faded into the yellow... you can see that it gets mixed, as if it faded.

This one... well, it has a lot of pink-red, but you can also see the unfolded flower by it... it's like a fist!

This flower is yellow, as you see, with white. I would have liked to take more pictures of the white flowers, but they seem to open even later, so there weren't many open yet.

Well... what to say about this one? That it's probably my favourite! It's the heart of a flower, and it looks like fire!

Gardening Update Number Two

A very expected event waited for by everyone in this house has finally happened!
Our enormous, lovely, big, green sunflower has its flower! ^^

The huge sunflower, with the flower right on top!

A closer look... I love the way it looks with the clouds and the blue sky behind. :)

The zuchinnis are also starting to grow! Let's hope we have the same lot as we did last year... they really grew huge, and there were so many of them!

This is a bean flower. The beans are growing beautifully, full of colour, and this flower is very nice, since it's red... :P

And I can help to post this photo! The flowers of this plant are very pretty... now they are starting to fade, but before they were such bright yellow!

And this is all for now, folks! I must say, having a rich soil is a very big blessing!

A Goldfinch

We have a goldfinch nest in our olive tree!! ^^ Sunday noon after the meeting, my Papa came to me and asked, "You like taking pictures?". When he says that, I know there is something interesting to take a photo of. So I went with him with my camera, and he showed me a sweet little nest a goldfinch had made in our olive tree. We could see it perfectly because the olive tree was right by my parents' window.
Then, (it had to happen), my batteries went dead. Thankfully, my Mummy's batteries were available, so I could take the pictures in the end.

At first, the nest was empty, but I took a pic anyway.

Then Mamma Goldfinch came along, and sat quietly on the nest for me. That was nice of her! :) I like the red feathers on her head.

And in the afternoon my little brother came crying, "She's laid her eggs! She has laid her eggs!" so I had to grab Mummy's batteries again, and take the picture. I don't know if you can see the eggs... but they were pale blue. :)

Mummy!

Today is my dearest Mummy's birthday!
On such a special day in the year, I want to wish her the most wonderful, lovely, happy, blessed Birthday in the world!
  • Because she is so patient with me!
  • Because she understands this crazy, teenager mind of mine.
  • Because she is so supportive in all the things I do, want and would like to do.
  • Because she is a lot of fun to be with!
  • Because she is the best at scratching backs.
  • Because she is such a loving mother!
  • Because she is she!!
And so I'm dedicating this post to her, my Mummy.
